Riddle Me This: What Tech Do You Need to Make Content Marketing Manageable?
Somewhere between getting caught up in the hype cycle and being left in the dust, there's an amount of technology that's just right to get your marketing to where it needs to be. To find out what, we asked experts to weigh in and answer the questions we hear most.
We asked Joe Pulizzi, founder of the Content Marketing Institute the following question about content marketing: What tech do you need to make content marketing manageable?
First off, if you don't have a proper content marketing strategy in place, nothing will solve your measurement issues. That said, there are a couple key areas you need to look at for workflow issues.
First, you need an editorial calendar system that your team has access to, as well as an approval process system. Some tools to consider are DivvyHQ, Workfront, KaPost and Central Desktop.
Those types of programs can also be integrated into your content management system, like WordPress. In addition, technologies such as Rainmaker, Atomic Reach and InboundWriter can assist with making sure your content is findable and relevant to your audience.
If you need content services, check out marketplaces and content acquisition sites like Newscred, Skyword, Zerys and Scripted. Beyond that, you'll need a solid email platform to maintain your subscription database and, down the road, a marketing automation system to help track and nurture your subscribers.
Finally, all this should be tied into a CRM system like Salesforce so you can keep and monitor the database.
