Welcome to the Future: Bridge 2030 - A Time Traveler's Perspective!
Anyone who knows Jo Sullivan (former ASPCA powerhouse who recently moved over to CDR Fundraising Group) would not be surprised to see her decked out in a silver dress and blue wig. But on stage at the 2010 Bridge Conference?
Still no shocker. Jo and fellow time traveler/space alien/fundraising prognosticator Alphonce Brown, director of development at the National Minority AIDS Council, donned the futuristic gear (Brown in a sci-fi-looking suit, not a silver dress) to discuss what the Bridge Conference will look like in 2030.
It was extreme, and kind of cheesy (and hilarious, with on-screen cameos of CDR's Geoff Peters and others), but the message was clear: The future of fundraising won't be the same as it has been over history - an overriding theme of this year's conference.
Future donors will want more information, deeper relationships and more "say" in how their donations are used. And they'll believe it's your job to understand them, learn about them and connect with them - on their terms. Hmmm ... Jo and company might have travelled through time to make this presentation, but it seems like their picture of the future of fundraising has already begun being painted!
