Editor’s Notes: What the New Year Brings
Another turn of the seasons is through and we're in 2012. The year the economy turns around? The year mobile really takes off? The year social media takes over? The year the USPS changes forever? The last year marketers are allowed to collect private data on consumers? The year ... well, who knows what government the elections will bring?
It's an uncertain time, but also one with a lot of opportunity. As you'll see in "The Big Qs of 2012" cover story, marketers have begun to turn their minds away from the troubles of 2011 and toward the opportunities new technologies offer in 2012.
Our sources also are thinking about a new host of dangers emerging from the USPS' problems and several legislative issues that can only be described as threatening. Maybe there's something to that Mayan calendar apocalypse stuff? It certainly feels like great change is in the air.
Whatever the new year holds, Target Marketing magazine will continue to bring you the best ways to thrive in it, as will our website and e-newsletters. In fact, our flagship e-newsletter is about to become something much bigger than it has been.
Today @ Target Marketing
Target Marketing Tipline has been our flagship weekly e-newsletter for a long time. But, given everything that's going on in the industry, we think you're going to need and want a lot more information than we're able to include in it once a week. So, starting this month, we're relaunching it as a daily e-newsletter, Today @ Target Marketing.
Not only will Today @ Target Marketing continue to supply all the best practices and how-tos that make Tipline great, it'll also bring in bloggers from Marketing's Best Blogs, e-commerce articles from our sister website eM+C, bedrock direct marketing know-how from DirectMarketingIQ, and all the daily news and commentary you need to make good marketing decisions. Better yet, the new e-newsletter will include updates on our webinars and other content that gives you a leg up on the competition.
