Frontier’s Email Stands Out for More Than Puns
In a competitive airline marketplace, price is one factor that can get people to fly, as this email shows.
Mailer Name: Frontier Airlines
Date Emailed: June 28, 2016
The subject line here: “Unbearably low $29 summer fares + 30% off” accomplishes several things. First, it emphasizes the airline’s brand as an ultra low cost carrier. Second, it stands out a bit more when paired with the bear photo seen when the email opens. Since it began flying in 1994, Frontier has put the image of some animal – a cougar or fox, among others - on the tails of its aircraft.
The bear isn’t the only figure that dominates the image. The “as low as” $29 airfare does as well. And, below, a large burst announces the extra 30% discount. A call to action button at center gets the prospect to the website to book a flight. And, additional terms and conditions, as well as a promo code, unfold in a box immediately below.
The next block down continues the punning. It offers an autumn special: “Fares you can fall for.” It’s followed by a block that champions the company’s social responsibility. “Frontier is doing it right for the planet, people, jobs and families!” it boasts.
