ALC Presents Arlene Greenbaum Spirit Award

PRINCETON, NJ — Data marketing industry leader, ALC, introduced its first “Arlene Greenbaum Spirit Award” at its annual FOR BROKERS ONLY luncheon, held on Friday, May 8 at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan. The award provides an annual donation to Marketing EDGE, a nonprofit organization geared towards educating and employing college students in the field of marketing.
According to ALC Chairman & CEO, Donn Rappaport, the award, which will become an annual ALC tradition, was conceived as a way to both honor Ms. Greenbaum’s spirit and dedication to the industry she loved, as well as to recognize a data broker who most faithfully embodies Ms. Greenbaum’s on-going commitment to fostering positive, healthy and mutually productive relationships within and across the data brokerage, data owner and data management community.
And while there were many qualified candidates considered, Mr. Rappaport presented the award to Marianne Palumbo, a 20+ year data brokerage veteran and Director at Rickard Squared, whose accounts include Meredith Corporation and AAA.
Arlene Greenbaum was a long-tenured ALC employee, who worked vigorously right up until she passed away last year at the age of 84. According to Mr. Rappaport, she often said her job was one of the things that kept her feeling vibrant and engaged with the business community. Among Arlene’s chief responsibilities was coordinating the company’s annual “For Brokers Only” luncheon, which she spearheaded and ran for its first 18 years.
FBO is the only industry event dedicated to the industry’s data brokers, and has attracted 150 of the top talent in the field each year for the past 19 years. “Arlene possessed, and always exhibited, a truly indomitable spirit, a great sense of humor and a genuine love for both our company and the business we’re in,” said Mr. Rappaport. “As anyone who participated in FBO knows, Arlene was not only the inspiration for the event, but was also responsible—each and every year since it began—for infusing it with the life and atmosphere that made it a can’t-miss luncheon for all of us.”
Andrea (Derricks) Steele accepted a contribution to Marketing Edge from ALC in the names of both Ms. Greenbaum and Ms. Palumbo. Now as Manager, Omnichannel Capabilities, at Unilever, and a member of the Marketing Edge Board of Trustees, Ms. Derricks was an Associate in the inaugural year of the first Marketing EDGE ”Next Generation Leaders̵ program and was later honored as one of Marketing EDGE’s Rising Stars Award winners.
