Editor’s Notes: Follow the Money
More than 60 percent of respondents to the fifth annual Target Marketing Media Usage Survey plan to increase their social media budgets in 2011 over 2010. Fewer than 4 percent are decreasing social media spend and only 11.5 percent are staying away from it.
That means nearly 85 percent of the marketers we surveyed are spending significant resources on a technology so new that it wasn't even on the survey two years ago. And last year, to refresh your memory, more than half of our respondents were already using social media for customer acquisition and retention. This year, it ranks as the top media for customer retention for 9 percent of our B-to-C respondents and 10 percent of hybrid marketers.
If you needed any more proof that marketing is at the end of the whip when it comes to adopting tech advances—meaning that you have to move farther, faster and with a bigger bang than probably any other division in the company—there you have it.
Staying ahead of the game has never been more important for a marketer. And, if you can spare a little time at your desk to log in on March 15, we have been working on an excellent free event that will help you do exactly that.
