Denny’s Zinger: Yours, Free! An Extraordinary Historical Treasure!
We are selling the house and moving to an apartment.
I'll be 80 in August. After four flights of stairs 10 times a day, it's time.
Thirty years ago at a bookstore closeout sale, I bought a 1911 Edition of Encyclopaedia Britannica. The binding was in tatters. But the more than 26,000 onionskin pages in 29 volumes were in mint condition.
I had the entire set bound in Library buckram.
This is not an auction. I don't want money. I want to find a good home for it.
It is a piece of rich British-American history and a sublime intellectual treasure—all the world's knowledge of 1910, found in one place.
We won't have room for it, so it's free to the first reader who claims it and figures out a way to get it the hell out of here.
Why This Offer
On April 18, 2015, The Wall Street Journal ran a story, "Moore's Law Shows Its Age."
As you know, Moore's Law is about cramming more and more information onto a chip.
It got me thinking about the huge strides made in storing and instantly accessing terabytes of information on our desktops. Data that's not in our personal computers is instantaneously available via the Internet.
As opposed to fumbling through 29 clunky volumes and 26,000 pages, just 100 years ago.
This is the subject of an upcoming column.
Write, email or phone me to reserve this great intellectual treasure in your name.
