Is Direct Mail Junk Mail? - LinkedIn Discussion of the Week
September 14, 2012"NEW! Multichannel Marketing Thursdays: Is Direct Mail Junk Mail?" is the subject of the poll Group member Colleen T. Reese created.
She writes: "Chet Dalzell's [blog] post on Target Marketing has sparked a lot of heated discussion. So we'd like to ask you … What is the real difference between 'Direct Mail' and 'Junk Mail?' "
It's a topic Dalzell visited on Sept. 5 in "Direct Mail Still Haunted by the J-Word," where he received a comment from TM reader Gay Bitter: "Chet—I cringe every time I hear the J-word too. As a former boss of mine said, 'If you're targeting properly, it should not be junk!' "
One IMM voter agreed with Bitter, choosing "No Way!" following the question from Reese, "Is Direct Mail Junk Mail?"
The following options are available:
- Yes!
- No way!
- Neutral
- Apathetic
Three hours after Reese created the poll, one vote declared direct mail the antonym of junk mail. Another voter was apathetic.
