Google’s Horowitz: Facebook Is a Social Network of the Past

Google’s Bradley Horowitz did a pretty good Rocky Balboa impression on Wednesday, calling Facebook—the reigning social champ—a “social network of the past” and accusing the network of getting advertising all wrong.     Just a comment – I’m about to discontinue my "Today’s Target Marketing" newsletter because of the amount of clicks you make your readers go through to see an article that you feature. As a web developer I get why you are doing it, but there is such a thing as abusing your readers. When I click on a link in your newsletter I expect to go to the featured article, not directed to your site and then having to click on a link on your site to get to the teased article.

    There have been instances where I have had to click three times to see the actual article and of course there are times when I get pop-over messages on the featured site and have to click to close that.

    Know that I like a lot of the content you feature, but I can get it elsewhere for less work.
