Marketers need to think twice before they begin pointing fingers at their competitors. In this episode of "What Were They Thinking?" Melissa takes a look at how Bud Light made an attempt to use a Super Bowl ad to take MillerCoors down a peg or two, but ended up with some unexpected backlash instead. Smugly pointing out that both Miller Lite and Coors Lite are brewed with corn syrup, Bud Light ignited what is now being dubbed the "Corn War" by media. As of Feb. 6, Bud Light responded on Twitter, trying to keep with the tone of the Super Bowl ad, but it's clear the brewer's attempts are still falling flat.
