SOREL Makes Use of Winter Storm Juno in Its Email
On Jan. 27, the subject line of "Boots to take on the storm" hit my email inbox at 8:00 a.m. Unlike a lot of the other emails residing in my Gmail promotion tab, this message got my attention as snow dropped quietly out of the gray skies in the Philadelphia-metro area. True, our area was not hit nearly as hard by winter storm Juno, unlike areas in New England, but boot designer SOREL jumped on the weather condition and used the time to promote its boots.
While the body of the email promotes SOREL's Omni-Heat reflective lining in its XT Collection, a product that could be promoted at anytime throughout winter, my thinking is that a smart member of the email marketing team decided to make the subject line timely and related to the regional weather event. People affected by the storm may be tempted to make a purchase in advance of another winter storm, and those of us who missed the major snow might also make a purchase (just in case).
