It has to be at least a whole year since I last set foot in a Sheetz gas station and convenience store. Once upon a time in college, I'd be going on a weekly basis — sometimes up to two or three times in the course of a week. Late-nite snacking, gas, fuel for finals or maybe just the cure for boredom, Sheetz had it all. And my "My Sheetz" card was the golden ticket, scoring discounts and special offers to the chain.
But since I've moved to an area with no store locations, the emails associated with "My Sheetz" pretty much always make their way straight to the Trash folder of my Gmail—except for the most recent one.
Whether Sheetz knew from my account inactivity or just blindly sent it, the message that showed up on Tuesday was absolutely perfect for reigniting my old flame for the store. "Come In For A Free Appetizer!" shouted the headline. Well, how is one supposed to say no to that?
