Enticing the Prospect with ‘Freebies’
As a Bath & Body Works online customer (who has time to go to the mall anymore?), I receive emails from the health and beauty company at least once a day, if not more. This marketer's subject lines scream urgency: "Today only! $9 ALL 3-wick candles" and "Last Call for EXTRA 20% Off our Hottest Deals" are two examples.
Bath & Body Works also makes use of specific day-related offers, such as this email sent in early June with the subject line "Freebie Friday! A treat for you + $5 Aromatherapy." Once the message is opened, the eyes are bombarded with offers tied to specific deadlines, such as "Limited Time Only! Free Item with any $10 Purchase" and "Today Only! $1 Shipping on orders of $25 or more."
Bath & Body Works continues to tantalize the email recipient with deals on hand soaps in new scents (limited time only!), aromatherapy body wash on sale for $5 (2 days only!), a signature collection sale, and then finishes strong with clearance items being highlighted at up to 50% off. Essentially, something for every dedicated customer.
