Twitter announced yesterday that it is planning to discontinue Vine. "In coming months," Twitter plans to end the app that allows users to post the iconic 7-second micro vlogs to the community website. Without that, the site will cease to gain new content.

Just six months after being acquired (and only about 10 weeks since it was officially launched), Vine, Twitter’s mobile video app, has hit the No. 1 spot among all free apps on Apple’s U.S. App Store, beating the highly rated DC Comics superhero title, "Injustice: Gods Among Us." Yep, that’s right. As of right now, at least, Vine is officially bigger than Batman. The news was announced by Vine’s creative director and co-founder Rus Yusupov.
