As this email shows, getting your business prepared for a new year starts with a discount on a basic item.
Mailer Name: Zerbee Business Products
Date Mailed: October 7, 2016
Zerbee, a Minnesota-based retailer of brand-name office supplies and furniture, starts small in more ways than one. The top of this email, below the header, focuses on a single small product: Post-It Flags. A photo illustrates their use in an office setting. “Color code to maximize your productivity,” it advises.
The next, larger block below displays several planners and a calendar. Like the previous one, it gives the customer an opportunity to purchase the product immediately via a call to action button.
The subject line teased a sale on these items: “10% Off New 2017 Calendars.” But that not-so-little detail doesn’t appear until the third and largest block.
In very large type it announces the discount as part of “Get Organized Week.” Several organizational items arranged on the table include Post-Its and paper clips. In addition, reversed-out mouse type explains terms and conditions. That is, besides the $100 order limit mentioned right below the headline.
Finally, because this effort dropped in October, the next block takes note of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Special “pink products,” it says, sell for up to 50% off regular price.
When you make your primary offer below the top of the email, make it stand out.
