Throwback Thursday Direct Mail: H&R Block
Filing taxes inspires worry in many people, which this direct mail piece is designed to ease.
Mailer Name: H&R Block
Date Mailed: February 2009
H&R Block, the world’s largest tax-preparation business, sells its expertise with its direct mail. For several years starting in the mid-2000s, it reached out to past customers and prospects with mail that was also designed to help its tax professionals.
This folded self-mailer puts its commitment up front on one of the outer panels: “What’s the best thing about having people? I get the Maximum Refund Guarantee.” Another inside panel ticks off the guarantees and other services it has available for its customers. And, the short letter sells the knowledge and experience of its people in delivering money-saving returns.
But the centerpiece of this effort, as well as its other direct mail pieces during this period, is the Tax Organizer. This is a folded 9”x11-1/2” envelope with a document checklist on one side. The prospect is directed to gather the records they need and bring them to their appointment.
You can view the entire H&R Block package to see all of the tactics it uses to drive traffic to its tax offices. To download a free PDF of this mail piece, courtesy of Who’s Mailing What!, please click here.
