The Oxford Experience
This year, my summer vacation was a week in Oxford, England. Our church choir had the honor and privilege of being "choir in residence" at Christ Church – founded by Cardinal Wolsey in 1524. It was a very different "vacation."
We worked hard … learned a ton of new music … rehearsed and sang services daily … and were transported into a world steeped in history, culture, education, and beauty. And yes, we had fun too. Punting on the Chartrell, visiting Warwick Castle, steak and ale pies at the Eagle and Child (or the Bird and the Baby, as it’s called locally), as well as a wonderful opportunity to get to know better some of the people I have sung with for years.
I have come back enriched. It’s made be vitally aware of the importance of getting away and diving deep into new experiences and taking away everything you can.
And it’s given me a new outlook and sense of anticipation for my upcoming business travels. What can I learn – in sessions and in the exhibit hall? Who can I get to know better? Where can I go to discover the culture and history … as well as have some fun?
So here’s my travel agenda for the next few weeks. If you’re going to be at one of these events, please let me know so that we can hopefully connect.
September 16th is the Direct Marketing Club of New York’s luncheon.
October 4th-5th I’ll be out at Graph Expo in Chicago and attending our Gold Ink Awards Dinner and Hall of Fame Gala at the Hyatt Regency at McCormick Place.
AND … A SPECIAL OFFER FOR YOU FROM THE DMA!
October 9th-12th is the biggest show of the year – the DMA2010 Annual Conference in San Francisco, and we’ll be there! In fact, I just got off the phone with my friend Paul McDonnough at the DMA and asked if there was a special offer I could extend to our DMIQ Insiders. The answer was a resounding YES!
Register for the DMA2010 and use Discount Code AN617 and receive a $300 discount off the Conference & Exposition price. This is a very special offer, but there is a deadline. You must register before midnight on September 16th to take advantage of this special discount.
So, if you’re not already signed up, now is the time to act. And in between sessions and enjoying the sights and sounds of San Francisco, please be sure to stop by our booth #1602 in the Exhibit Hall and say "Hello!" I look forward to seeing you!
'Til next time.
