The Guy Who Could Sell Anything to Anybody
"Showtime's Great Knife Giveaway Show!"
Cousin Arnold's first demonstration is the "Showtime" all-purpose knife.
"Have you ever seen a knife this sharp in your whole life?" he asks. Cousin Arnold picks up a pineapple and with a lightning swipe of the knife, the bottom half of the pineapple drops onto the table.
The audience applauds wildly. This is dazzling stuff.
In a different infomercial for these knives, Ron Popeil himself says of his Showtime knife: "If you buy it directly from me, it will cost you $100.00."
Cousin Arnold picks up on this. "If you went down to a department store, a knife like this would cost you at least $100. Would you say it's worth it? Huh?"
"YES!" shouts the audience.
On screen is a picture of the knife next to $100 in big type.
"With Ron you know you're not going to pay $100. You're not going to pay $70. You're not going to pay $60. How would you like to own this knife for only three easy payments of $13.33! How does that sound, huh?"

Arnold demonstrates more and more knives.
Near the end of Cousin Arnold's presentation, Ron himself comes on the set bearing a tray with four steak knives. On screen is a picture of the steak knives and the price, $17.95 each.
"I know you sell these steak knives individually for $17.95," Cousin Arnold says to Ron who is out of camera range. "Am I right or wrong?"
"That's right!" says Ron.
"So if you add that in the four steak knives, we now have 11 pieces of guaranteed cutlery all for just 3 payments of $13.33!"
