More than 38,000 unique fundraising emails were received by Who’s Mailing What! between October 2013 and September 2014. These emails had an average word count of 472.9 and 19 percent were personalized.
One-fourth of the emails (9,827) were for Social Action (Causes) and more than 2,000 in this category were personalized. These emails had the highest word count average with 638.3. Top emailers were the Center for Individual Freedom, Media Research Center, Liberty Alliance, Campaign for Liberty, Marijuana Policy Project Foundation, Citizens United and the American Center for Law and Justice.
Politics accounted for 22.4 percent (8,697) of the fundraising emails and 1,325 were personalized. Twenty-First Century Democrats, Democratic National Committee and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee were in the top 10 — totaling 1,322 emails. Republican Presidential Task Force and the National Republican Congressional Committee were also in the top 10 with 1,175 total emails.
The remaining fundraising categories had a combined 20,068 emails received in WMW! during the year reviewed. The top categories included Culture with 2,895 offers; Animals/Wildlife, 2,740 offers; Health/Handicapped, 2,504 offers; Religion, 2,401 offers; Environment, 1,736 offers; Cultural Organization Memberships, 1,535 offers; Children, 1,479 offers; and Performing Arts, 1,123 offers.
