It's (almost) the holiday season, and you know what that means — time to watch people fill up online shopping carts, only to leave them full while you languish in agony. Recapturing cart abandoners is every online retailer's dream, but what's do be done?
Luckily, the wise sages at EmailMonks have been around the block, and have a number of tips to share about capturing cart abandoners. Six tips, in fact! While you should definitely go check out all six, I'm going to focus on my favorite two:
1. Take time to make time. Don't seem too desperate when you're sending abandoned cart emails. Appropriately space out the intervals at which you're sending emails, encouraging prospects to head back to your site and pick up where they left off. "Waiting for 24 hours to send your second email is ideal," said EmailMonks. "Don’t rush into sending the second email too quickly; this will only annoy your subscriber."
2. Be informative! If your abandoner has questions, answering them — or even just offering to field them — might get them back to your site. Ask questions such as "Need any help?" and make sure the subscriber knows you're there for them along the purchase journey. This strategy will help them to start warming up.
