Marketo Forgets to Renew Marketo.com
Marketo CEO Steve Lucas blamed “human and process error” for the gaffe, The Drum reported on Wednesday. But, unlike former presidential candidate Jeb Bush did with JebBush.com — when his campaign failed to renew the domain from December 2015 to February 2016, thereby losing it to now-President Donald Trump — Marketo's problem appeared to be rectified quickly upon discovery. (Although possibly by a good Samaritan. Please see the Internet reaction below.)
The Drum reports on how Marketo.com being offline “for a number of hours” meant clients couldn’t log in to use the services:
The oversight affected not only the main domain but also a number of associated Marketo properties, all of which were rendered inaccessible until the issue could be rectified, something Marketo now says is ‘largely resolved.’
However at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, when Target Marketing tried to access a page on Marketo.com about Marketo agreeing in May 2016 to be acquired by Vista Equity Partners, the page wouldn’t load.
The acquisition is one of the major changes that happened at Marketo this year, with another notable one being the April 2017 “formation of a network of B2B agencies, … Martech Global, consisting of 26 agencies and 600 customers with an objective to assist global B2B enterprises with their digital marketing transformation," The Drum reports.
That's a lot of change in a short period of time.
But the Internet wasn't understanding.
