This B-to-B retailer typically sends email dangling an incentive for an order, and this one is no exception. “$100 VISA Card with purchase of ZOLL AED,” reads this effort’s subject line. However, this time it focuses primarily on a single product, and a rather expensive one at that.
First, “You can save a life!” says the headline at the top of the HTML. It’s in allcaps and set against a bright green dollar sign background. The entire top block is dominated by the promotion of the premium. It only briefly mentions the purchase needed to secure it, and the deadline.
Next, the following large section centers on the automated external defibrillator (AED) manufactured by Zoll. Noting that “Cardiac Arrest is the #1 Cause of Death in the workplace,” the email displays two of the devices, each for the same sales price. Call to action buttons for each allow the shopper to find out more about each one, and to buy.
Finally, at bottom, the prospect is given two choices of how to purchase their product. They can get either a straight-up discount or the gift card shown at the top of the email.
Presenting a purchase as empowering or feel-good can get a customer’s attention.
