DMA Buys DM Days New York
The Direct Marketing Association (DMA) has reportedly purchased the DM Days in New York Conference for an undisclosed sum from DMD Conferences LLC, New York.
Several reports indicate that the deal is expected to be announced today.
DMD was owned by four partners: Chuck Cavanagh, president and CEO; Art Blumenfield, vice chairman and executive vice president; Thomas J. Turner, executive vice president and COO; and Fred Tarter, director.
The 38-year-old conference has been on the market for roughly two years.
The news comes despite an ongoing lawsuit from DM News parent company Courtenay Communications Corp. against DM Days alleging breach of agreement relating to a proposed sale of the conference assets to Courtenay. Last June, as the conference was occuring at the Javits Center in New York, Courtenay announced it was buying the conference.
DM Days takes place June 2 to 4 in New York, in competition this year with the DMA's Catalog Conference June 1 to 3 in San Francisco.
