Credo’s Email Uses Holiday For New Customer Pitch
The country’s biggest holiday gives this telecom carrier a reason to pitch its service via email.
Mailer Name: Credo Mobile
Date Emailed: July 1, 2016
The subject line seems to say it all: “Big Savings for the Biggest Holiday of the Summer.” But as it turns out, upon being opened up, it’s no ordinary Independence Day sale. “OUR FOURTH OF JULY SALE just got BETTER!” the headline boasts.
Immediately below, the email gives the consumer two options. On the left, they can get $200 off any smartphone. That’s not all; they also get 50% off unlimited text and talk for 1 year. Pretty generous. And, there’s more: they don’t have to pay the activation fee either.
But … on the right, the two Samsung Galaxy smartphones pictured are pretty big and shiny. And the burst over them announces: “FREE with OFFER.” The mousetype at bottom details the terms and conditions, including the two-year commitment required for the free phone. Either way, a tap on the button provided or a phone call can get the ball rolling. And get free shipping as well.
Next, a short paragraph restates the offer, and references Credo’s support for progressive causes. It’s followed by another incentive for a wavering prospect: up to $650 in credit for getting rid of their current phone and plan. Finally, at bottom, a row of symbols representing various issues assures the prospect: “We share your values.”
Keep revealing more and more reasons for the customer to say “yes,” until they do.
