As Peggy mentioned above, the Magazine Publishing Industry Sector Report has been a long time coming. We've always know we had a wealth of data on our hands, with the Who's Mailing What! Archive (and especially now, with our Email Campaign Archive as well), and it proves useful in all our editorial work in Inside Direct Mail enewsletter, our Directory of Major Mailers, etc. But we knew we could do more with this treasure trove of marketing activity.
It really took our brilliant computer programmer here at North American Publishing Company, Monika Mukkamala, to point out: "You should be doing special reports on these marketing sectors! You've got so much rich data!"
Well, she was right, of course. So after much work, especially by Monika herself, our Research Analyst Cheryl Cagle and Research Director Paul Bobnak, we now have the first sector report to offer — along with over 50 free direct mail and email samples, and the opportunity to purchase extensive company profiles. This report covers the magazine industry (retail will be the next sector we tackle) in great detail, including all the trends and statistics (up to June 2010), along with expert analysis and commentary.
One very recent trend? After direct mail marketing activity was way down for most of 2009 and the first part of 2010, June showed that a recovery was in sight, with 43 percent more mail than June of 2009.
