What Is the Future of Webinars and Virtual Shows? - LinkedIn Discussion of the Week
Marketers love webinars. What a way to generate leads while providing prospects with valuable content. But webinars were a marketing revolution. So what will their evolution look like?
That's the question posed by Colleen T. Reese—a member of the LinkedIn "Integrated Marketing Mix" group—during "Content Marketing Thursdays: Webinars, Virtual Shows and the Integrated Marketing Virtual Conference & Expo."
The Integrated Marketing Virtual Conference & Expo referenced in her discussion title was the all-day, free Web event hosted on Thursday by Target Marketing and Printing Impressions magazines. Reese says: "While we hope to see most of you there, many of our past discussions suggest that today would also be a perfect day to discuss webinars and virtual shows. How do you see the webinar evolving over time? What are some best practices for promoting and executing engaging webinars? Are webinars still generating ROI?"
When he wasn't hosting a session himself, IMM Member Thorin McGee took time out to answer: "I definitely see it moving more toward a video format where everyone is on a webcam and the moderator or a behind-the-scenes director has the ability to switch 'cameras' to show viewers feeds of the different speakers and/or their slides."
Fellow IMM Member Niel Stender agreed and added: "For promoting the webinar, we've run full cross media campaigns to boost attendance with excellent results. LinkedIn ads were one channel we tested that worked wonders for expanding our reach."
