Content Marketing Thursdays: Repurposing Old Content - LinkedIn Discussion of the Week
What could possibly take the place of QR Code Thursdays in the LinkedIn "Integrated Marketing Mix" group? Member Colleen T. Reese provides the unequivocal answer with Thursday's discussion title: "NEW! Content Marketing Thursdays: Repurposing Old Content, A New Discussion."
She starts off the discussion by asking members a few questions:
- How do you produce enough content to keep your audience engaged?
- What is the best way to repurpose old content?
- How do you choose what content is worth repurposing?
- Do you agree that content is indeed king?
Member Mike Hosley answers immediately from a search engine marketing viewpoint: "Matt Cutts and the other folks at Google agree that the days of backlinks and citations driving traffic to your site are behind us. … First and foremost is content, and there's no bonus for having good SEO. So if you're planning that 2012 site budget, you might want to think twice about hiring that SEO expert and find a content expert instead."
So are the days of mindlessly packing keywords into that first paragraph dead? Or do you just need someone literate to pack them in there for you?
Or, going back to Reese's question, do you indeed think content—real content, written by humans for humans and without concern for spiders and other arachnids—is king?
