Case Study: How Asana Activewear Achieved Efficiency With a Digital Asset Management System
Problem: Asana Activewear was spending too much time collecting and posting images on its website from its vendor partners. Devoting manpower to digital asset transfer management meant less time spent adding value to its business in more meaningful ways.
Solution: The online seller of yoga and fitness apparel implemented a free, centralized digital asset transfer system that could be used by its vendors for streamlined product image managment.
Results: Asana Activeware has achieved a 50 percent increase in efficiency relating to image exchange and management from vendors working with the product image selection partners versus nonusers.
Asana Activewear, an online seller of fitness and yoga apparel, secures nearly 3,000 product images from its 30 featured vendors twice annually to update its e-commerce website.
Sending image requests and tracking communications was a time commitment itself, but the method of exchange, which varied from CDs and FTP sites to email and individual image libraries, was the crux of the problem. During a typical seasonal merchandise refresh, Asana managed as many FTP sites and site passwords as they had vendors. Additionally, CDs often arrived with incomplete image inventories.
After learning about a free, centralized digital asset transfer system from shotfarm on LinkedIn, Gary Schwake, co-founder and co-owner of Asana Activewear, immediately signed up, hoping both his company and partners could reap the benefits of free, centralized product image management. He enlisted a handful of his vendor partners to join shotfarm and began to upload his own images from partners who hadn't yet signed on.
Soon Asana was requesting, tracking and managing image assets in one place, realizing a 50 percent increase in efficiency relating to image exchange and management with their shotfarm participating partners versus nonusers.
“Our partners have been receptive to our request because they want to simplify our workflow. In doing so, they’ve simplified their own as well,” said Schwake in a shotfarm press release. “Our goal is a single method of exchange for all of our partners, and with that comes unimaginable efficiencies.” Asana aims to bring at least half of its partners on board for the fall/winter merchandise site overhaul.
