CareFirst’s Email Is a Quick Seasonal Reminder
As this email shows, customer care involves more than helping customers before they need it.
Mailer Name: CareFirst
Date Mailed: August 29, 2016
CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield is a health system covering Maryland, the District of Columbia, and parts of Northern Virginia. Each season, it sends out an edition of Health News, its email newsletter. For summer 2016, it arrived in inboxes with the subject line: “Sun Safety for the Entire Family!”
The image at the top of the email fits well; it shows a smiling family on a beach. The paragraph immediately below repeats the subject line as its headline. “[L]earn about the best ways to protect yourself and your family from those harmful rays,” it advises. A single link leads to CareFirst’s website.
A much longer article there explains the scientific details about the sun’s rays. It also offers tips on protection measures, including using sunscreen.
A promotion for CareFirst’s Instagram comes next in the email. Besides pictures and videos, it mentions the health tips and recipes available there.
The other three stories in the email follow the pattern, offering the member a quick take on a summer hazard. In each case, a link clicks through to the system’s website.
On the right rail of the email, two additional pieces of content are showcased. The top one teases a “Healthy Cooking Recipe.” The link goes to the website, where additional healthy recipes are also offered. The next one links to a video where members can get exclusive savings on healthy products and programs.
When providing content to the customer, get them to your website as soon as possible.
