3 Tips to Optimize Your SMB Site
Small businesses need help with search engine optimization, too. To that end, Direct Marketing Day @ Your Desk, a virtual show hosted by DirectMarketingIQ.com and Target Marketing magazine, is offering a live case study aimed at helping such marketers raise their search engine rankings.
Providing a sneak peek at "Case Study: Lead Generation and SEO Success for SMB," speaker Evan Griffin offers prospective audience members these tips for optimizing their websites:
1. Write for your customer, not for Google. Companies often make the mistake of writing content specifically for Google, as opposed to writing content for their customers. Google wants to provide searchers with the best results possible, and the best results are those tailored for the searcher.
2. Focus on one keyword per page. Don't be tempted to stuff your Web pages with several keywords. Dedicate specific pages for different keywords.
3. Create content through blog posts, pictures and articles. Google has said time and time again: "Content is king." Google loves to see fresh, credible and interesting content on your website. Google also wants to see your business' unique content on third-party websites linking to yours as the source. Websites that consistently update their content rank higher than those that don't.
