Puerto Rico Kicks Tourism Marketing Into Gear
Responding to “high demand” from travelers looking to help Puerto Rico recover from Hurricane Maria, the Puerto Rico Tourism Company (PRTC) is collaborating with the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) and other industry partners on “Rebuild Days,” a new volunteer tourism marketing campaign.
"Tourism continues to be vital to Puerto Rico's road to recovery, and we look forward to welcoming visitors soon, especially those who want to give back this holiday season," said PRTC Executive Director Jose Izquierdo. He had disclosed plans for the campaign to Travel Market Report in an interview in mid-October.
"Continuing to visit us, staying at our hotels, eating at our restaurants, buying from local businesses and giving back through rebuilding efforts is the best way to support us right now," Izquierdo said.
PRTC said that “the majority of San Juan's hotels” are already operating and welcoming new visitors.
