Six Vanity Phone Number Do’s

December 2006
3

5. Brand, brand, brand. When you decide to invest in a vanity 800-phone number, get one that ties into your product or service.

6. Test and track. Create two separate ads using the same creative elements, just switch up a toll-free phone number for a vanity 800-number in one of the ads. Then track the response you get from each ad. It has been proven that people will remember a vanity phone number (one that spells something, like 1-800-PICK-UPS) in a radio ad 14 times more than they will remember a numeric number. So you will be able to test ad campaigns, specific media channels and find out which ones in your local media/advertising market are best for your success.

Vanity numbers are obsolete. I just negotiated for one with Verizon. Extra cost per month. Then, I looked at my Blackberry. RIM phones have a different key pad. the numbers and letters of the traditional telephone keys pad do not match up. So, 1-800-FLOWERS means nothing to a Blackberry user. You can't dial their real phone number using those letters. Am I right? I welcome comments/responses. Thanks

Vanity toll free number is a very effective tool in advertising and branding the services and products offered by a company. This may cost a bit but the benefit it offer is far more than the usual telephone system. You'll soon realize that its all worth the money you spent.
