DMCNY Remembers Milt PierceNovember 19, 2012
On Friday, the Direct Marketing Club of New York announced the passing of board member and influential direct marketer Milt Pierce. With our condolences, here is that statement.
Milt Pierce (1933-2012)
A 40+ year DMCNY Member, Milt was a Board Member for several years in the late ‘80s and received a Silver Apple in 1989. He leaves behind his wife, Debbie and children Sam and Estee. Milt was born in 1933 and received a BBA in Marketing from Baruch College and an MS in Adult Education from City College—CUNY. He was a beloved professor of direct marketing at Baruch, FIT and NYU.
From Jim Prendergast: Milt Pierce was the classic Direct Marketer. He was a school teacher when the bug hit him. He became a freelance writer, teacher, risk taker, participant. He was an activist who was always ready to take on a project for the DMCNY. He started a number of young writers with their first assignments. He was always ready to suggest and recommend a person for a project or a job. He was one the first members of the Ogle Society, a group of DM veterans, who meet irregularly to remember, tell stories, and laugh aloud. Milt will be missed for so many reasons.
