Silverpop Acquires Demand Management Company Vtrenz

Becomes only email service provider offering integrated solutions for all stages of lifecycle marketing campaigns

May 2007
ATLANTA, May 08, 2007 – Silverpop, a leading email marketing service provider, today announced the acquisition of pre-eminent marketing automation and lead management company Vtrenz.

Offering a true, on-demand marketing solution, Vtrenz is in the forefront of delivering automated, multi-channel marketing solutions that optimize lifecycle marketing campaigns throughout all stages, from initial interest to engagement and beyond. Together, Silverpop and Vtrenz provide the broadest lifecycle marketing solution for BtoB and BtoC marketers in mid-market and enterprise organizations.

“Silverpop has experienced phenomenal growth in terms of customers, product offerings and revenue during the past few years,” said Silverpop CEO Bill Nussey. “Now the powerful combination of Silverpop and Vtrenz further expands our offerings and allows us to deliver the broadest set of relationship-building solutions in the marketplace.”

Among the many attributes of the combined technologies is the ease it affords marketers to understand and act on their customers’ interests across channels. Nussey pointed to a JupiterResearch survey conducted for Silverpop last year that found more than one-third of email marketers struggle with a lack of actionable customer data. Almost the same number have difficulties analyzing customer responses.

To enable marketers to capture and utilize customer data, Vtrenz easily and cost-effectively delivers advanced, multi-channel integration and campaign automation technologies via the Web to marketers worldwide. The solution offers seamless integration with Salesforce.com and Microsoft Dynamics CRM, as well as out-of-the-box multi-channel integration across websites, forms, email and direct mail. Its campaign automation engine offers a degree of flexibility and power not found among most traditional email service providers.

“The Vtrenz acquisition brings a tremendous level of experience and technical insight that will further accelerate the availability of these cutting edge features into Silverpop’s email marketing product line,” Nussey said. “Silverpop’s worldwide sales organization will provide Vtrenz the largest and broadest sales force in the demand management industry.”

“Vtrenz is excited about the opportunity to join with Silverpop to help further define and grow the online relationship marketplace,” said Will Schnabel, newly-named vice president and general manager of Silverpop’s Vtrenz operation. He had previously served as president and CEO of Vtrenz. “The intuitive yet powerful solution now available as the result of combining the strengths of these two firms provides marketers with the ability to initiate more campaigns, generate more qualified prospects and ultimately deliver the highest possible return-on-investment for their companies.”

Vtrenz has been recently cited in both a Forrester Research report and a Wall Street Journal article for its participation in the emergent demand management industry. The company was founded in 1999 and is headquartered in Fargo, N.D. Its employees will join Silverpop’s team, providing a Midwestern locale to Atlanta-based Silverpop, which also has offices in London, England and throughout the United States. No terms of the acquisition will be disclosed.
