Twitter Now Reducing Some Tweets to 117 Characters
If you’re tweeting out a URL, your tweets just got a bit shorter. Starting today, any tweet sent with a URL will be reduced to 118 characters, or 117 for https links. First announced in December, the reduction is due to a change in Twitter’s t.co link wrapper. It extends the maximum length of t.co wrapped links from 20 characters to 22 characters for non-https URLs and from 21 characters to 23 characters for https URLs.
